A Land Rover for Gambia

To maintain humanitarian support in Gambia also in future RDI is asking for your help to purchase a four-wheel-vehicle. 

Reason:
The medical help provided by RDI in outback provinces is secured by a 4Wheel Drive. This vehicle (see photo) was donated by the Tautz’s. In the meantime it is 15 years old and in wretched state.
Each year we provide lodging for doctors, nurses, interns, members and guests in Gambia, i.e. for people who are supporting RDI’s work on the spot in the outback provinces. In August / September 2006 we were supported by a professor from Bonn (member), an internist; a cardiologist and specialist in tropical medicine, and by a nurse from Bremen (member) in the medical RDI assignments we had in the various Gambian provinces.

The association is also in charge of the safety for those people helping with our assignments. For the time being this is more than questionable, however. Therefore RDI is asking for support in purchasing a new vehicle. Experience shows that vehicles by Land Rover are tried and tested for the use at NGO’s. Spare parts can be purchased in Gambia so that they do not have to be imported by the association for a lot of money.
With your support RDI will be able to secure medical aid also in future for the people in need in the outback provinces.
