Malaria is still the worst scourge of tropic regions. Diseases which are hardly existent in industrialized countries and which can be healed with minor medical efforts very often present a major problem in developing regions such as Africa. With proper medication,
The current situation: According to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), 30 of the 34 least developed countries are situated in sub-Saharan Africa. The lower 25 ranks are taken by African countries only, with Sierra Leone at the bottom of the list. Nowhere else is the kind of aid required more complex than in these countries. Many organizations have set out to aid these populations, helping with financial donations or donations in kind. Donations help finance the drilling and building of wells or the purchase of generators. RDI trains local people so they are able to maintain and repair generators, etc., by themselves. Nowhere else is the number of mothers dying during childbirth higher than in Africa.
Water from this uncovered Many donations in kind are being sent from Germany, e.g., devices for medical diagnoses, among others. Unfortunately, there are not enough trained personnel in Africa who are able to use the devices properly. RDI is planning on training local people in the usage of these devices.
